Sox are 5-1…Keith Foulke doesn’t look like he’s going to fall apart any minute, Wakefield and Bard were on the same page today, Timlin, while not yet SHARP, still has his stuff…and Schilling, Clement and Beckett are smoking hot right now.
What’s not to love about this team?
OH…and when Coco went down, Stern was there to pick up the slack. Lowell, Snow and Loretta have contributed and our old standbys Varitek and Nixon have shown they’re here to PLAY. Even Manny has been hustling around the bases and flashing some nasty fielding skills. Papi hasn’t shown his ‘true’ self yet this year, but heck he’s batting .292 AND they’ve won five out of six games. I have no complaints.
Tomorrow I have taken the day off and will be around Fenway with friends (note I did not say ‘in’ Fenway. Alas, we don’t have tickets to the game, but we’ll be there anyway). My office know where I’ll be…pretty much everyone who knows me does. And I can’t wait. Josh Beckett gets his first start in Fenway against the much-improved Toronto Blue Jays (led by Josh Towers).
May the Josh jokes begin…and may the Sox kick butt!
(Oh yeah…the Yankees are 2-4. That’s a nice little sidenote to opening week!)
