I’m just glad I have plans tomorrow night that will keep me from watching the game. Because right now, Curt Schilling is pretty much one of the only guys on the team who doesn’t make my stomach turn to look at. He should have had this win but his entire team let him down. (Okay, maybe that’s a little harsh on the rest of the team. But for the first time all season, I was embarrassed by our offense.)
Special thanks to Wily Mo Pena for not only botching a totally routine out that possibly would have meant the score was still tied in the ninth, but for watching strike three go by with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. Stellar job there, Wily.
I’m shutting the tv off now. I’m in no mood to watch post-game interviews with our guys talking about how great the Detroit pitching was.
I still believe this team has the right components to make it to the post-season, and, win or lose, I’ll be watching and cheering. But it is nights like tonight that make me wonder if half this team even cares about getting there.
