Today!

Okay, now that I’m rested and don’t have the memory of a crappy night at work fresh in my head, I’m much more excited about today than I was last night! 🙂

My hopes for the day (not in any particular order):

* I hope my digital camera battery doesn’t die because I still haven’t bought a backup

* I hope it isn’t as cold today as it was yesterday.

* I hope my sister is so happy about seeing Doug Mirabelli that she forgets baseball games can go on for a while…in the cold.

* I hope no idiot fans boo Julio Lugo just because he had a bad game on Sunday. Try remembering what he did in October and how he helped the team earn another “Banner Day”, people.

* I hope the Red Sox win. And win big.

* I hope Daisuke pitches really well and shuts up all his detractors.

* I hope Kyle shows up to get his ring.

* I hope my friends who aren’t in the New England area get to see the ceremony before the game.

* I hope it warms up a little. (I know I mentioned this one before. I don’t know what it is this morning but I woke up REALLY cold so it’s on my mind.)

* I hope that all the team needs to get back on track is some home cooking. 🙂

* I hope I don’t forget the tickets. (Always a fear of mine even though I’ve not ONCE forgotten to bring the tickets.)

* I hope everyone has fun. The players, the fans, everyone.

* I hope it’s a good day all around.

It’s being reported that the players who were on the 2004 team will be getting special rings commemorating their being on the ’04 and ’07 teams. I like that idea. The 2007 team should be damn proud of what they accomplished, but there are 8 guys from that team who accomplished it twice in four years, after the team not being able to do it for 86 years, and it’s wonderful the guys will be recognized for doing something so special. With that, I leave you with one of my favorite moments from the post-World Series celebrations. It isn’t the best quality (and you can find it out there better, but this I took as it was happening) – but it’s a wonderful sentiment.

Have a great day, folks! Here’s to the 2007 Boston Red Sox!
