FINALLY an actual article about him and his new situation. He’s a leper no more. (No, I don’t think he’s a leper, but the lack of info on him since he was dfa’d was quite annoying.)
Let’s print quotes, shall we?
“[I’m] actually thrilled,” said Francona. “If he didn’t get a Major League job, we’d love to keep him in the organization. I think the world of him. Now he can go get stretched out and start a little bit, which hopefully gives him some value to us.”
It is a business and I accept that,” said Snyder. “But it’s a business for me, too. I can’t say it was a tough call. I’ve enjoyed my time here. There’s a lot of loyalty I still feel to this club and to this team and to this city. I’ve had a great time since I’ve been here. I’m not the least bit disappointed to be going to Pawtucket and still having an opportunity to help this club, which I know I can do.”
I love his attitude. LOVE it. And the loyalty is mutual, Kyle. (Does that make sense? It reads wrong. Let’s just say, reading his quotes it’s clear that MY loyalty to Kyle was NOT misplaced.) 🙂
See folks, there are players out there who DO “get it” and Kyle is one of them. Thanks for that, Kyle.
I especially love Tito’s quote. Nice to read that about Kyle. Folks who know me know how I judge a player. So it’s always nice to read what I’ve suspected (and been told by others) about Kyle being a good guy. I happen to think Kyle is also a good pitcher, so he’s two for two with me.
I’m a posting machine tonight. Sorry about the quantity over quality folks – I’m still ‘recovering’ from my week/weekend of baseball and debauchery. 🙂
Edited to add that Rob Bradford comes through again:
Also of note today is Kyle Snyder accepting an assignment to Triple A Pawtucket. Snyder evidently told the Red Sox Friday that if he cleared waivers (which the team executed Thursday night) he would be accepting the assignment. He cleared waivers this afternoon.
Snyder will still be collecting on his $835,000 deal. He will be reporting to the PawSox in Indianapolis tomorrow after having thrown twice at his home in Sarasota the last week. The plan is to use Snyder in a game Wednesday.
So now we know what the plan is And knowing’s half the battle. 😉 Wednesday’s game is an afternoon game, so it’ll be on in the background at work. Good luck, Kyle!
