KellyO just texted me – somehow I missed this blurb in today’s Herald:
Kyle Snyder cleared waivers and accepted the Sox’ assignment to Pawtucket, where the right-hander will be stretched out to become a member of the Triple-A team’s rotation.
“I was just hoping to stay in the big leagues,†Snyder said about whether he was hoping to be traded.
“I believe that’s where I belong, where I deserve to be. That not being the case right now, I’d definitely prefer to stay in this organization.â€
There was considerable speculation that the Red Sox tried to deal Snyder after they designated him for assignment April 6. The Tigers, Rays, Phillies and Braves were interested in his services.
Snyder, who still will receive his $835,000 major league salary, has kept sharp by throwing at Sarasota High in Florida. He will fly to Indianapolis today and expects to pitch an inning or two tomorrow. On Saturday, when the PawSox are back home, Snyder believes he will receive his 2007 World Series ring.
So, if I am reading this correctly, does this mean Kyle thinks he’s getting his ring at the PawSox game on Saturday? Maybe they’re giving rings to the guys who were on the team but are now in Pawtucket (Hello Bobby Kielty and Brandon Moss!)???
Did I mention I have tickets to Saturday’s game in Pawtucket? And that I wasn’t sure whether or not I was going to go?
It’s a pretty damn safe bet I’m going now. 🙂
Now the only other question (for now) is what number will he wear? Devern Hansack is 39. (But he’s on the DL…can they have two 39s?) Oh well…these things work out themselves. I’m just so happy at the prospect of a ring ceremony for Kyle (and the other guys).
(My apologies for the superfluous question marks – I’m a little excited!)
