I should be sleeping

Daisuke walks practically the entire team and still wins the game. In Pawtucket, Charlie Zink pitches 8 innings of 3-hit ball, but gives up one run and loses the game. Oh the life of a pitcher.

I missed both games live (and even though I can’t sleep, missed the replay of the BoSox game as well) so I have no witty insights to share. I’m hoping to be around for the games tomorrow night.

By now everyone has read this story. “Yanks fan kills Sox fan”. It’s ridiculous on so many counts. But most ridiculous is the notion that the only thing prompting what happened was baseball fandom. A drunk woman drove into a group of people and killed one of them, that’s what happened. It’s a tragedy and I hope that woman gets punished as harshly as the law allows, but it isn’t as if Yankees fans are driving through the streets of New Hampshire looking for Red Sox fans to run over. Does anyone think if that woman wasn’t so drunk that she refused a breathalyzer that she would have done what she did? I suppose she could just be psychotic enough that she wouldn’t have needed alcohol to encourage her, but that still doesn’t mean it happened solely because she is a Yankees fan and the guy she killed was a Red Sox fan. My sympathies to the family of the man who was killed. It’s a terrible thing to have to go through. I just hope this doesn’t ‘inspire’ other idiots to retaliate in the name of their team.

In happier Yankee-related news, Clemens is going down in flames and all I want to do is grab some marshmallows to roast on his fire. Woot.

Today (May 6) is Willie Mays’ birthday. Shout out to Willie![youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfvaTgqpYj8&hl=en]
