Tim Wakefield and Mike Timlin combined for a shut out against the Tigers last night. According to Gordon Edes:
Research by the Elias Sports Bureau indicates that last night marked the first time since 1900 a team pitched a shutout using multiple pitchers all over the age of 40.
Not too shabby. Congratulations guys!
But my favorite quote from Edes’ piece comes from Jon Lester (about Wake):
“There’s nothing he does that makes him seem old. He’s a normal guy, just like the rest of us.”
So nice to know that once I turn forty I’ll still be “normal” in the eyes of the twenty-somethings.
I leave you with my two favorite representations of guy love:[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=90Hph8aiER8&hl=en”>
