(Shout out to Nancy!)
Well done, Crabby, well done. 🙂
So the Sox lose a squeaker on Friday, get pummeled on Saturday and do the pummeling on Sunday? Always hate to lose a series, especially to the Yankees, but it could have been worse so I’ll take it!
I guess my nitpicking with Hershiser really WAS nitpicking. Thanks to Jere for all the info (in the comments from last night!).
Hey, though, speaking of nitpicking, Jacoby Ellsbury seems to be going to the school of Kevin Youkilis quotes about fans:
“Tonight the crowd was great from pitch 1, when Jon struck out Damon. The atmosphere of the crowd was different tonight, and maybe we fed off that.”
Yeah, Jacoby, maybe it was because the fans weren’t loud enough on Friday that you went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts. 🙂
A better quote came from Tito and this wasn’t about the fans it was about Manny:
“I’d take a guy that’s hitting .500 that’s miserable as opposed to a guy that hands out bouquets to his teammates and is hitting a buck 45,†Francona said. “You move on. The goal is to get better from it. I think we’ve done a good job of that here.â€
I’m sure Tito would love to dope slap Manny right now. Kudos to him for not taking Manny’s route and, instead, just sticking with the baseball stuff.
And, finally, what I missed on Saturday:
Along with his Pats teammates Tedy Bruschi and Mike Vrabel, and Sox pitchers Tim Wakefield and Mike Timlin, Welker sang backup vocals on “Back Where I Come From” during Chesney’s set at the sold-out New England Country Music Festival at Gillette Stadium
I was supposed to have a friend there…but I don’t know for sure that she made it. (I sure hope so!)
The Yankees are kept at bay for now and the Rays are only a game ahead. Â Not a horrible way to start a week.
