So says Terry Francona – king of the understatement.
Once again, a starting pitcher had the suck and passed it along to just about everyone else. The only pitching highlight is that Mike Timlin made his 1,050th career appearance, tying Kent Tekulve for seventh place on the all-time list.
David Aardsma is back on the DL with a strained right groin (Kyle Snyder says “hi” and “ow!”) and Josh Beckett won’t be making his next scheduled start. Add the day of suck for Lester and the pitching woes just keep on piling up don’t they?
At this rate, Daisuke’s going to have to pitch a complete game tomorrow.
Well today sucked for the BoSox and their fans. But it could be worse. You could be my friend Crystal who traveled from Boston to Toronto to watch that suckfest (after she sat in Fenway last Saturday for the suckfest that was Paul Byrd’s first start with the Red Sox). We might have to keep Crystal away from some Sox games for a while. (Kidding, Crys! My heart goes out to you! Hope you’re in Toronto getting your drink on!)
In about an hour an a half, the champagne will start chilling again in Rochester and the PawSox try AGAIN to clinch a playoff spot. See, there’s always SOMETHING to look forward to!
