On Thursday, Red Sox pitchers and catchers report to Ft Myers. According to the schedule over at NESN, the network will be airing a half-hour show live from Ft Myers at 7pm. On Saturday the 14th, they’ll be showing a 2-hour live broadcast from Spring Training, much like they did last year. So if you’re looking forward to watching baseball players mill around on the field while Tom Caron and various Boston sports writers discuss the team in front of them, this is the show for you.
I’ll admit to watching some of this programming last year, but I’ll also admit to the novelty of it wearing off rather quickly. It’s fun to see the team, but I want to see them play games that mean something. It’s almost frustrating to watch them doing, essentially, nothing. So I’m not sure how much of my time will be spent watching NESN’s coverage.
I’m still trying to process the news from the weekend. Still have a very difficult time conjuring up any feelings of sympathy for Alex Rodriguez or the New York Yankees…but for people who are fans of his and fans of baseball, it’s a lousy time and I feel for them. I want the real baseball season to get here so I can focus on my team and on the players from other teams that I like instead of having to think about someone like Slappy.
Three days until pitchers and catchers report. Feels like it’s been years.
