I mean, really.
I have no problem with him responding to what Beckett said, fine get your shots in. Beckett got his. BUT this:
"But I would be embarrassed. And if he was my teammate, he would know about it. If any of my teammates acted like he acted on the field right there, I would let him know about it. Not to take away from the intensity and taking care of business, but you just don’t do that."
It’s laughable. Shea Hillenbrand is a punk. First of all, he said the above AFTER he was told that Beckett said, "I was a little irritated. I think most of it came with being irritated with myself. It’s not exactly the first impression you wanted to make on everybody." Secondly, ever since Theo traded him for BK Kim (after, but not because of, Shea’s infamous "trade me f*g" quote), he finds opportunities to talk trash about the Red Sox (and the fans and Fenway Park and Boston…the list goes on and Scott Hatteberg says ‘hi’) – and he thinks Beckett’s teammates should have a problem with him?
Maybe Hillenbrand should focus on improving his .194 average instead of focussing on trash talking the Red Sox, hmmm?
It’ll be interesting to see what happens if the Blue Jays draw Beckett the next time the two teams meet.
