When a couple of Red Sox pitchers found bullpen catcher Jason Larocque
in the clubhouse a few weeks ago, scanning the classified ads for a
second-hand pickup, they sprang into action. Larocque’s 12-year-old
Ford Explorer, they learned, had sustained major front-end damage in an
accident, so the Red Sox secretly took up a collection to buy him a new
Ford F-250. The surprise was the idea of reliever Mike Timlin, former Marlin Josh Beckett and staff ace Curt Schilling,
all of whom make substantially more than the $25,000 the Red Sox pay
Larocque. ”Sometimes you feel like you’re a little lost in the
clubhouse, and then they do something like this,” Larocque told The
Boston Globe. “It makes it all worthwhile.”
Yeah, that Curt Schilling – he’s a real jerk, huh? 😉
