So Proud

jonwithgreenvilleapril52007.jpgIt will come as no surprise that I’ve become totally biased toward Jon Lester.  For various (some obvious) reasons, I feel protective of him.  I’ll be totally straight here and tell you all that you’ll never read real criticism of him here.  I’ve realized I’m not capable of it.  I feel like I’m writing about my kid, or at the very least, the son of a friend.

Just so we’re clear.  🙂

Jon threw 54 pitches yesterday for the Greenville Drive – including five strike outs, one walk and one hit.  All accounts I’ve read of the game used the same adjective to describe his outing:  ‘sharp’.

jongabeapril52007.jpgI just couldn’t be happier.  (Okay, it would have made me happier if The Drive actually WON the first game Gabe Kapler managed, but what are you gong to do?)  This just brings him another game closer to Fenway – which is what we all are waiting for!

So play at 2:05pm today (and I’m home today so I’ll get to see it!) – our first real season look at Tim Wakefield.

The sun is shining through my windows this morning…let’s hope it starts warming up in time for the boys’ return to Fenway!
