Josh gets his ninth win.
JD already feels the power of being the recipient of the postcard shower and being my player of the week 2 weeks in a row by hitting 2 three-run homers and knocking in 7 runs. (And even Julio Lugo joined in the fun with a lead-off homer in the first!)
My man Mike Timlin gets activated for today’s game (sadly, JC Romero got designated for assignment to make room, but what are you going to do?). This makes me happy. I want Mike with the team.
Clemens starts against the Pirates today (interesting, he can’t start against the Red or White Sox, but the Pirates? "Bring ’em on", says the Yankees savior!), prompting Johnny Damon to say he can’t wait to win a championship with him. Okay, Johnny. Whatever. It was certainly fun watching the Yankees struggle against the Pirates, final result of that game aside.
Josh Beckett pitched 8 strong innings and after the game credited the rest of the team for the ‘assist’ in his 9 wins. Josh is the first Sox pitcher to start a season 9-0 since, you guessed it, Roger Clemens.
Last night was great – let’s keep this up fellas, shall we? Give Julian some of that run support Josh gets.
That’ll work!
