I’m already tired. How the heck am I going to make it to 10:05 tonight?
Matsuzaka v Maddux, no way I’m not watching it!
Okay, you folks…you crack me up! I received more emails from people asking "why does it have to be a poetry contest?" than I did poems. But I DID receive poems and will be going through them. We’ll have the winning poem here soon!
Yankees got swept by Colorado with the Rocket on the mound. The schadenfreude aside, I think American League teams and fans need to give some respect to the Rockies. They win the series IN Boston against the Sox and they sweep New York in Colorado. Either this team is totally underrated, or they just kicked it up a notch or two playing against the Sox and Yanks. Either way, well done Rockies. Sox now have a 10.5 lead.
With Schilling on the DL, everyone and their brother are speculating about who gets called up. I’m in the camp of leaving Jon Lester in Pawtucket for a while longer. If they need to bring up a pitcher (and with Delcarmen and Snyder in the bullpen, I’m not convinced they do right now), I’d rather see Kason Gabbard or even David Pauley come up for a couple of starts. Paying attention to what Jon has been doing in Pawtucket, he’s pitching well, but not as well as he should. I’ve said it to folks but can’t remember if I’ve written it here, he only came up last year out of absolute necessity, not because he was ‘ready’. If not for his turn with cancer, and the wonderful story of his ‘comeback’ I wonder how many folks would be clamoring for his return to the bigs right now?
Don’t get me wrong, I want to see him up here, I do. But I also want him to be physically and mentally ready for the job. And I can’t wait for that day. I just don’t see it being right now.
But, what do I know? All this I write and they’ll probably call him up tonight. 🙂
Watching Mike and Mike and they’re saying that Miguel Tejada has a fractured wrist and his consecutive game streak might be in jeopardy. Although yesterday, they put him in the first inning, let him bunt and put in a pinch-runner for him. That’s kind of a cheap way to keep his streak going, no? Heck, I guess piling on the Orioles right now is redundant. To the surprise of no one, except all the writers who said he’d take it, Joe Girardi turned down the manager’s position there. It’s a tough place to be right now, Baltimore is. I feel for the guys on that team.
As an aside, why do people watch this show? These guys (and "Greenie" isn’t there today) are making me cringe. I must not be a ‘real’ sports fan. I hate sports radio.
Four 10:05pm games coming up (with two 4/4:30pm games to end each series)…dang, it’s going to be a long week. 🙂
