Fun game to watch, but it would have been better on another network, or just with announcers who didn’t make me want to pierce my eardrums with safety pins.
Karl Ravech just said the Willie Mays tribute was reminiscent of the ’99 ASG with Ted Williams. That was exactly my issue with it. I love Mays and think he deserves every tribute he can get, but this year’s seemed a bit forced. In ’99 it was spontaneous. Players just started swarming Ted when he made it on to the field. This year, the players were basically forced to mill around Willie, specifically to make it seem like ’99. Not well done at all.
Glad it’s all over. I’m very proud of our guys, but let them all get some rest tomorrow, come back fresh on Thursday and start kicking butt.
