Coming up Close

Been running around like a nut since Wednesday and right now is my first chance to take a breath.

A split with the Blue Jays to start the second half isn’t quite the way I wanted things to go, but I’ll take it.  I’m at Fenway tomorrow night with a gang of crazies, most of whom I haven’t seen in a while.  Can’t wait to see them all and watch Kason Gabbard pitch a gem!  (He has to pitch a gem, right?)

Just got off the phone with a friend who was watching Game 1 of the 2004 World Series.  Woody Williams hits Orlando Cabrera and Tim McCarver remarks that OC was supposed to sacrifice and didn’t do his job.  My friend was beside himself.  🙂  Ah, memories.

We’ve finally come to a decision in the poetry contest!  I whittled down the finalists to 6 and tonight we have the winner.  There will be another post coming (probably not tonight, though) with the winning poem (and the other finalists as well!)  Thanks to everyone who participated.  The poets and the judges!

I’m still on my mini-vacation although changes in plans has me at work tomorrow (for part of the day anyway) so my mind isn’t completely back into baseball.  I’m sure at 7:05 tomorrow night it’ll kick right back in!
