It’s just about 1am and it’s only the top of the seventh.
I decided to stay up for this one and haven’t regretted it…not really anyway. I’ve noticed that when losses come in the late or early hours they annoy me more, yet wins don’t make me happier late night than during regular hours. What that tells me is I should be getting sleep instead of watching the game. But, of course, I’m not.
Excuse me while I interrupt myself to send a WA-HOO Dustin Pedroia’s way. Thanks to him with a little help from Garrett Anderson, it’s now 7-6 Sox. But it’s only the seventh, as I wrote, and the way this game is going there is an awful lot of time left in the game.
Yankees and Mr. Wang got their hats handed to them by the Blue Jays. Regardless of what happens with the Sox and Angels, that was nice to see.
I made a couple of predictions to different folks about this game. I told the folks at SG that I predicted an ass-whooping for the Angels, like the one the Blue Jays gave the Yanks. That isn’t really happening. The other prediction I made was earlier in the day, to a friend in email. I told her I expected Jon Lester to get pounded and then the Red Sox would come back to win, leaving him out of the decision. Here’s hoping that one will stick.
Two men on, two outs and the Captain is up at bat. I hate to admit this publicly, but damn , lately he’s the last guy I want to see up at bat in a situation like this. I’m too tired to look up his numbers as of late, but I don’t imagine they’re very good. (I hope I’m wrong. I hope it’s just my perception and not actually the situation. But I fear I’m not.)
Tek is out. But to be fair, looks like he hit a home run that he was robbed of. Nice catch Angels guy (man I am tired!). (Reggie Willitts…it was Reggie)
Speaking of tired, I must be hallucinating. I could have sworn Hazel Mae just told me Reggie Miller was going to become a Celtic. I saw something about this earlier but didn’t read it. I just assumed it referred to him working in the front office or for Doc Rivers. Danny Ainge makes my head hurt. I hate when he does that during baseball season.
I’m not going to ‘live-blog’ the rest of the game. Okajima is back in there for the bottom of the 7th. If I had any brains, I’d shut the tv off now and let what happens happen. But, no, I’ll be watching the rest of it and hoping for the best. So far, I like our chances.
Go Sox!
