Congratulations to My Man Mike!

He made his 1000th MLB appearance, and while it was certainly one he’ll want to forget, it shouldn’t go unappreciated.

He’s only the 13th pitcher in the history of MLB to make 1000 appearances and fifth, currently on the all-time list with an opportunity to become second because Goose Gossage has 1002 appearances.  Roberto Hernandez, 1003 and Jose Mesa has 1013.  Most likely, the only one of the pitchers he won’t catch up with is Mike Stanton who is still active and currently at 1169 appearances.

Regardless of how it turned out, I was proud to be there last night for such an accomplishment.  Special thanks to my sistah Brenken for getting me to the park!  (And, also,  special thanks to Kelly for hooking me up with a ticket for tonight in the event Mike didn’t get in last night!)

So congratulations to Mike Timlin!  Regardless of the idiots who booed him as he came off the mound last night, there’s  no denying that he’s had a remarkable (and POSITIVE) impact on the Red Sox since he signed on in 2003.
