16-10? After being down 8-1? Everyone in the lineup getting multiple hits except the backup catcher (who, with his only hit, had a bases loaded single garnering two rbi)? Tim Wakefield having possibly the worst game of his career and the team still winning?
If this is a dream, don’t wake me!
I don’t care what team this was against. After losing 1-0 Monday night and going down 8-1, this is huge, HUGE!
I absolutely will admit to have given up. I never give up. I watch every game convinced that they can and will win.
Not last night. I gave up in the top of the fourth when the score was 8-1. I almost shut it off. Hey, I had stuff to do and watching the Sox get pummeled wasn’t really something I wanted to continue with.
But I didn’t shut it off. I stayed where I was and watched the Sox come back. More than once noting that I was glad I wasn’t at the game because it would have killed me. I would have been toast. There would have been no way I could get home. I have a friend who was at that game and it capped a five game trek she had made (including 3 in Baltimore). I hope she calls in sick today. I can’t imagine her being able to peel herself off her bed this morning. 🙂
Games like last night are why we’re fans. The Fenway Faithful, according to Jerry Remy, were behind the team all night, even when they were losing, cheering them on and hoping for a comeback. And they weren’t disappointed.
I’m at Fenway tonight. Lester v Jackson. It’s been mentioned by the Sox that these games aren’t "must win" but I beg to differ.
You must win tonight, fellas, you must. If for no other reason, than to keep my blood pressure down.
Man, September baseball makes me crazy.
