Because this game is just starting to get annoying now. Watching Tito hang Julian Tavarez out to dry is pissing me off.
Kyle had a good outing today. For someone who hasn’t pitched against live, professional hitters in over a week, he did really well. Two strikeouts, no walks, one hit and one run (a homerun). He faced nine batters and he’s sporting a 3.86 average with Pawtucket. Nothing to hang your head about.
I’m so looking forward to the game in Pawtucket on Saturday. For many reasons. It’ll be great to see Kyle and the others get their rings, but it’ll also be a blast to be back at McCoy and sit in a stadium where it’s just FUN to watch the game. No obnoxious fans trying to start trouble with rival fans. No worrying about the standings in April. Just folks out for a fun night at the ball park.
I have tickets to two Spinners games this year and I’m hoping to get to at least one Sea Dogs game – and I’m sure there will be more PawSox tickets popping up. Plus, I’m going to the “Futures at Fenway” double-header in August. If you haven’t taken in a minor league game and you have the opportunity to do it, you really should. Nothing beats watching players in the minors – guys who bust their asses every game because they’re trying to achieve something more. I love MLB, I do…but there’s something special about watching minor league games and seeing future talent forming-and watching players who might not get a shot in MLB find a place to flourish.
Which is partly why I’m so excited for Kyle to be with Pawtucket. It’s totally selfish because I absolutely believe he should be pitching at the major league level, but I love the idea that he was agreeable to pitching in Pawtucket, knowing he has a chance to get back to the bigs but also being part of a group of guys who are just going balls out to have a good time and play a good game.
I hope he has as much fun playing in Pawtucket as I have watching the PawSox play. Because, ultimately, that’s what it’s about, isn’t it?
