Photo of David Pauley for two reasons – 1) Because he’s pitching in Pawtucket today and 2) because it shows you how good a photo should look – courtesy of Kelly O’Connor
Up early to see my niece march in a Memorial Day parade this morning. That coupled with how tired I was after work last night = my falling asleep after the second inning of the game.
I woke up around 2am, pissed that I missed the game, looked at the score and was suddenly not so pissed. Another night when Timmy just didn’t have it and the offense had no desire to help him out. Those are frustrating games and staying up past midnight to watch it unfold would have been painful. Guess God knows what he’s doing sometimes. 🙂
What is really making me crabby this morning is discovering, thanks to the PawSox site, that Kyle is either off the DL or getting off the DL in time to make a start this week in Pawtucket – on TUESDAY. I’ll be there on Monday…and if Clay wasn’t making a rehab start on Sunday, I might have gotten to see Kyle pitch Monday. Instead I get, for what feels like the millionth time, Charlie Zink. (He’s a good pitcher and maybe he’s a good kid too…but I’d like to see Kyle pitch at least once this season.)
More on Kyle since he’s infinitely less annoying to talk about this morning than the abomination of a baseball game that was played in Oakland last night.
From ProJo:
As of right now, the PawSox’ starting rotation consists of Buchholz, Justin Masterson, David Pauley, Devern Hansack and Charlie Zink. Pawtucket’s bullpen has struggled this season, but relievers Chris Smith and Kyle Snyder could easily help Boston.
See, this is just sloppy. Yes, when Kyle was up in Boston, the majority of his time was spent as a reliever. But, currently, he’s in Pawtucket and he’s a (newsflash for Joe McDonald) a STARTER. Buchholz will have one rehab start MAYBE two if things go terrible tomorrow, he isn’t really part of the PawSox rotation. (Though the implication that Kyle could be a useful part, yet again, of the BoSox bullpen makes me happy!)
Honestly, folks, give me a salary and I’ll cover the PawSox for you all. KellyO can take the pictures and both of us could do a much better job than what’ s being done currently. I just feel like the folks who cover them don’t really care, you know? Put just a little effort into it people. Give us pictures that look professional and stories that are accurate and informative. Not much to ask. (Rant over, for now.)
Ooh, we lucky eastcoasters get a 9pm game tonight instead of 10pm. Woo! Just think of what you can do with that extra hour of sleep!
Joshua Patrick is on the mound tonight. Let’s hope Lester throwing a no-hitter before him and the team sucking up the place last night inspire him to pitch like a man possessed. Kick ass, JP!
