Poor Jon Lester. It seems like every time he pitches a good game lately, something else happens to upstage him. 🙂
No matter. Crabcakes kicked butt last night and the offense even showed up! Woot.
Colon on the DL. Matsuzaka scheduled to pitch on Saturday and Chris Smith making another pit stop up here. OH and Charlie Zink pitched another fabulous game for Pawtucket last night. Man, I love pitching. Especially good pitching.
Speaking of which, Justin Masterson pitches the final game in Philly this afternoon (1:05pm for those of you planning to ditch work early to watch!) and then the Sox head back to Boston and a day off, awaiting the arrival of the St. Louis Cardinals.
Here’s a stat, courtesy of Gordon Edes, that will make my mother smile. “J.D. Drew leads the majors with eight home runs in June. Jackie Jensen set the club record for the month with 14 in 1958 .” Many people told me last year that I was crazy to think that Drew’s dominance in September and October was going to extend to this season. Well, I didn’t give up on him. And he’s proven me right thus far. Way to go, JD! (Yay D Woooooooo!)
By the way, if anyone sees Kobe Bryant today, tell him to suck it, okay?
Woooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!
(I wonder if it’s bad form to wear my “Beat LA” t-shirt to work today?)
