Personality goes a long way

So yesterday I read about the Yankees signing Sidney Ponson…again…and I remember reading something about how, even though he was pitching well for them, the Rangers just wanted him gone “for disrespecting teammates and club personnel”.

Now, in spite of my rant about Youk yesterday, I believe in giving people second chances.  BUT if a team that needs pitching (and what team doesn’t) boots a player who was performing well for them because of the way he treats his “teammates and club personnel”…well that tells you something, doesn’t it?  I have no tolerance for people who see fit to treat others poorly.  Everyone has their off-days and that I understand, but if you get let go because of these issues, that’s more than a one-time occurrence behind you.  While everyone might not believe in the ‘magic’ that is team chemistry (I happen to believe in its importance) everyone can probably agree that having a jerk in your midst sucks.  How much are the guys in the Yankees clubhouse are looking forward to having Ponson back?  Since it’s a minor-league contract, maybe it won’t become an issue (if he performs poorly)…but if he gets brought up (ala Bartolo Colon)…well, things could get interesting.

Speaking of interesting, is there not ONE PawSox fan reading who has an update on Kyle Snyder for me?  Throw me a bone, people. 🙂

Thrilled for Justin Masterson and the rest of the Sox!  Coming home from a WINNING road trip – woot!  St Louis is in town for the weekend and I’m hoping for a replay of the 2004 World Series.  🙂
