Mal de Mer

By the time this post gets published, it’ll probably be many hours since I began it. I’m spending only short bursts of time on the computer right now. Thanks for the kind thoughts sent my way – I’m really okay save for dizziness that is making it tough to do much. I’ll be fine. 🙂

In the time I have been able to stay upright and read, I found a couple of interesting blurbs out of Pawtucket:

The Red Sox last week sent a not-so-subtle message to Buchholz that he should not be worried about when he will return to Boston. One day last week, when Buchholz arrived at McCoy Stadium, he found two boxes of his gear at his locker. It was baseball equipment that Buchholz had left behind when he was sent to Pawtucket on rehabilitation assignment.

The message sure seemed clear: You are in Pawtucket now, Clay, and you might be there for a while. Buchholz confirmed the delivery of his equipment.

“It was all of it,” he said.

Well that’s subtle isn’t it? I don’t think Clay has much to worry about. No shame in pitching in Pawtucket and getting those good stats on paper. You never know what’s going to happen with the big club, right? (RSN anxiously awaits Daisuke’s next start!)

Clay seemed to be in the right frame of mind about it:

“I actually needed some of the stuff, anyway, so it wasn’t a bad deal. I don’t know. They’ve got guys up there throwing the ball well right now. It’s sort of a case of not having enough room to carry everybody that wants to be up there. It is what it is. It’s a long season, especially up there.

There’s another half-season to go. We’ll see where it goes.”

“I’ll just keep throwing. That’s all I can do,” he said. “Hopefully, I’ll put a couple more good starts back to back and see where that goes.”

He’s right. Pitch well and the rest will fall into place. Just ask Tim Wakefield.

How fabulous was it to see him pitch seven innings and only give up two hits and NO runs? “Old” my Aunt Fanny.

ProJo also had a blurb about Kyle (woot!):

Snyder, out since June 3 because of a recurring a groin strain, threw 35 pitches in a side session with pitching coach Rich Sauveur. All went well, manager Ron Johnson reported. It is possible Snyder soon could be sent to Florida to get in more work.

So we have good pitching news all around! (Clay, incidentally, pitched well last night and the PawSox won!)

My man Mike Timlin will be pitching an inning tonight in Pawtucket. I have a friend heading down there for the game so I’ll get an eyewitness account of how it goes. Looking forward to that.

Day off today for the BoSox, and David Pauley on the mound in Pawtucket, so you can still get some Sox love tonight.

Our boys are off to Houston for the end (thank you, Jesus) of interleague play. Matsuzaka, Lester and Beckett before the team heads to Tropicana Field for round 2.

I leave you with NESN video of Sean Casey from last night. For no other reason than his hyperactivity on a night when he didn’t even play cracks me right up!
