Photo including my man Mike that I’ve never seen before – lifted from “Mr. Irrelevant”
Wow.
I don’t mean leadership just from your manager or your coaches either. Maybe there really is something to be said for having a veteran presence in the bullpen? With the ‘kids’ hanging out there on their own, they’ve been a little ineffective, eh?
Well, fear not! Last night (around midnight? Yeesh.) Mike Timlin was activated off of the disabled list and Chris Smith was told to stay on the plane until it landed in Pawtucket. Mike was perfect in his outings in Pawtucket and throwing strikes like they were free. I truly hope that is an indicator that he’s back where he wants/needs to be with his pitching.
I also really hope that his being back with the team has a positive influence on the bullpen once again. Maybe they were just missing their admiral? 🙂 I know I was!
Four games in New York, starting tonight. Sox coming in after being swept and the Yanks salvaged one game from the Rangers. Both teams are trying to get back on track. These games could be really interesting. I don’t want interesting. I want carnage (from our side). I want them to stomp all over the Yankees and not leave any recognizable pieces when they’re done.
Short of that, I’ll settle for two or three wins. 🙂
Unrelated to all of this – I realized last night that the tickets I have to the games in Lowell are in July! For some reason, I thought they were in August. So, although I have no idea what the timetable is for his return since the people who cover the damn PawSox only do so when it’s convenient (and in the most condensed ways), there is a better possibility that I’ll get a chance to see Kyle Snyder play in Lowell. There’s also the possibility he won’t be there when I finally go, but at least there’s a better chance now than there was had I been going in August. Hey, you have to hold on to the little things to make you happy, right?
Crabcakes vs Pettitte tonight. Surprisingly, I’m feeling pretty good about our chances with this one.
