More “Things”

Because it was painfully bad, I’m up way too early, and it’s really easy to do, I’m going to rip off today’s Bob Ryan “column”:

I wonder if Chris Berman and Joe Morgan are finished talking about Josh Hamilton’s recovery from drug use and his tattoos?

Before they again start calling fans “bandwagoners” or “pink hats” maybe the Boston sports media should really pay some attention to the Minor Leagues teams connected with the Red Sox. Given some responses to email requests for information, the average Sox fan knows much more about the PawSox, SeaDogs and Spinners than any given sports writer around here.

When did Bob Ryan turn into Larry King?

I’m not sure insulting the front office is the best way to get what you want in the off-season, Manny.

The Pacific Coast League beat the International League in All-Star play last night (with 6 runs in the ninth inning!). You wouldn’t know this if you read the online versions of the Herald or Globe this morning. Joe Thurston, Chris Carter, Jonathan Van Every and Jeff Bailey all got into the game. Had the IL won, Joe Thurston would have, in my mind, been the MVP with his three hits, one walk and one run scored. (Although Carter DID hit a ninth inning, 2-run homerun!)

Congratulations to Jonathan and Ashley Papelbon on the news that they’ll be parents by the end of the year!

Why is it that so many mainstream writers complain about bloggers then copy the blogging style for their own writings?

If you’re one of those fans who complains about “overpaid” athletes, you need to check out a minor league (or some independent league) game and see these guys when they’re playing for their shot or, in some cases, just to play. You’ll be reminded that not everyone is a greedy punk who thinks the world should revolve around them.

Come between me and my iPhone and die a slow, painful death. 🙂

Along those same lines, if you have emailed me and I’ve yet to email you back, please don’t take it personally. I promise I will, I’m just painfully slow and lazy when it comes to hitting the “reply” button (ask any of my friends!).

I’m beginning to think Ryan didn’t his piece very early in the morning.  It’s now just after 6am and my brain is having trouble coming up with these “things”.   He wins.  His ramblings about “things” is longer than mine.

I’ll be at Pawtucket on Sunday.  Charlie Zink, amazingly enough, isn’t pitching that day.  I’m a little disappointed because I was considering making a sign that read something like  “You’re all All Star to US, Charlie” after the way the International League dissed him this week.

I will continue to be amazed at what paid writers are allowed to submit as ‘work’ when there are many unpaid writers (read: bloggers) who seem to put a lot more time and care into what THEY write.

In Lowell for Kyle Snyder and the Spinners tonight.  If you’re at the game, come on over and say ‘hello’!
