9 variations of “suck” in one post – it could be a new record for me

Well, so much for that prediction.

Last night was a five-hit, one-error suckfest for the position players and a fourteen-hit, eleven-run suckfest for the pitchers. Yay team. It’s nice when everyone all sucks together – good show of solidarity.

Except for Mike Timlin and Craig Hansen. They decided to break from the pack and NOT suck last night. Way to be rebels, fellas.

My man Mike threw 4 pitches in the 6th inning resulting in a single and a ground out (and no men scored, inherited or otherwise). In the 7th inning, he threw 9 pitches and got his three outs via two pop-ups and a ground out. Hansen used 11 pitches in the 8th to get two strikeouts and a ground out. Well done you two. (And props to Manny and Youk – how ironic – for their homeruns. But where were they the rest of the game?)

Oh well, sucky games happen. I just hate starting off the second half watching that and I especially hate making my tired ass stay up to watch them be sucky all around a west coast park. Next two games are on national television fellas, let’s hope you’ve all gotten the suck out of your systems.

Josh Becket doesn’t suck. And he’s pitching this afternoon against Joe Saunders who, sadly, also doesn’t suck. Come to the park to play boys and make us proud.

****I found this photo while looking for a picture of Hansen to use in today’s post.  It was taken in December of 2006 at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.  I had no idea such a thing existed.  Go figure.
