Congratulations to the Boston Red Sox for clinching their playoff spot against Cliff Lee and the Cleveland Indians tonight!!! It was great to see them all out there celebrating (and even got to see one of my friends – Chrissy – on tv during the celebration!) and enjoying the moment. It was even better to hear Theo say winning the division was still in their sights. Hey, I’m happy with the playoff spot no matter what, but no reason to not try and get home field advantage, eh? Not something I’m holding my breath for, admittedly, but I’m ever the optimist.
It’s a bit surreal for me Five playoff appearances in six years so you’d think I’d be used to it, huh? Still, I’m a little stunned. Happily stunned but stunned nonetheless. It’s also odd (again, happily so!) that the Yankees got eliminated from the playoffs with the Red Sox win tonight.   Joe Girardi said in his post gamer presser that it was too bad the games between the Sox and Yanks this weekend won’t mean anything. Maybe for him, but not for me. I’ll take 3 meaningless games against the Yankees (although they could mean something to the Sox and the division run). It’ll make me smile and give me a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
I’m so happy for the team. They worked hard to get here…a lot of people did. And now I hope they all hit the road and go home (instead of hitting “Game On”) so they can come back and win Wednesday night too!
