Red Sox game eighteen: Red Sox beat White Sox 10-3

The Red Sox continued their hot hitting ways by beating the Chicago White Sox in game one of a four game series 10-3.

Coming off of a sweep of the Minnesota Twins, the Red Sox are facing a better team in the White Sox and Thursday went up against pitcher Philip Humber in his first game since his perfect game on Saturday.  Humber was less than perfect, giving up eight hits and nine runs in five innings and he left the game after five having thrown 115 pitches.

Lars Anderson and Marlon Byrd were the only Red Sox starters without a hit (pinch hitter Darnell McDonald also went hitless) while the rest of the offense ended up with 10 runs on 12 hits.  Starting pitcher Felix Doubront went six full innings and gave up all three runs on five hits.  Reliever Junichi Tazawa impressed by pitching the final three innings without giving up a run.

Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit not one but two homers in the game while Kevin Youkilis kept the offense going with a grand slam in the third inning.  On this road trip so far, the Red Sox have score 34 runs from 52 hits over four games.

With both the offense and pitching catching fire at the same time this road trip is shaping up to be a successful one for the Red Sox.
