Dang. I really wanted that one. I guess the only saving graces are that the Yankees had to fight us for it. I’m still not afraid of them, and that Joba the Hutt finally got scored on with a home run from Mike Lowell.
Oh yeah, and that 4.5 game lead in the division.
I’d be interested in any Yankees fans who have given me crap about Dustin Pedroia’s "big mouth" letting me know what they think about their rookie headhunter screaming and mouthing off from the dugout after Jeter’s home run tonight. I’m sure I’ll hear it’s all about "passion" and "wanting to win", because it was one of their guys. Personally, I don’t mind it so much. I don’t think you need to be quiet just because you’re a rookie, but it was nice to see Lowell shut his face up for a few.
As much as I wanted the win tonight, there was a lot of good to take from the game and use for the rest of the season and the post-season, so I’m certainly not dwelling on it. Which is pretty much why I decided to write this tonight. Tomorrow is another series the Sox need to win and, thankfully, it isn’t against the Yankees so we’re done with the bullshit hype for now.
Speaking of which, do you all think Jon Miller and Joe Morgan have sore jaws from all the oral sex they performed on the Yankees tonight? My guess would be yes.
The photo in this entry was taken by Tex and is of Kyle Snyder and Steve. Steve is the unofficial mascot of the folks at SG and also one of Kelly’s traveling companions. Kelly’s wish for the season was fulfilled in Baltimore last weekend when Kyle agreed to pose for a picture with Steve. I post it here tonight because, for me, it represents a few things. Hope that we can accomplish whatever we set our minds to as well as the connection between the Sox players and we fans. Also, it’s just a photo that makes a lot of people I know smile – and that’s how I want folks to greet the new day!
