So post-season doesn’t come into play (which I knew already and I think is ridiculous) so Beckett doesn’t get the Cy Young. Congrats to CC Sabathia for getting his team to the playoffs and himself the Cy Young, only to be hammered into the ground by Beckett and the Red Sox. I’m sure he’s feeling good about himself this morning.
In comments yesterday, I like what Tex wrote about Joshua Patrick:
JPB has 2 rings himself. ALCS MVP this year. WS MVP 2003. Winning Pitcher of the All Star game. Only 20 game winner this season and last season for that matter [there were no 20 game winners in 2006 – Cyn’s edit]. Fluent in fuckinese and Master of Post Pressers.
Muy Grande in Texas 2002. And he’s a Texan...I’d say JPB is doing fine.
What I struck through in the above quote were the things I didn’t consider ‘impressive’. 🙂 (Hey, I’m from Boston…that impresses me more than Texas!) But I like the thought. Josh has a lot and doesn’t need the Cy Young…but he sure as hell deserved it.
Still no movement on either Mike Lowell or Mike Timlin, but the Yankees have begun talks with Lowell. Wake me when it’s over.
