I’m tired too, Josh.
I’ve been up all night due to a family emergency (got the word at 3:30am that things aren’t as bad as we thought but keep us in your prayers) and because I do have to go to work in a few hours, I figured I’d ramble a bit and then try to catch an hour or so of sleep. So, randomly:
* Jon Lester has had two good outings in a row. This last one against the Mets could even qualify as a great outing. I’m still reserving real euphoria over his talents until he does this consistently in games during the season.
* I’m feeling like one of the few people in the “Nation” who isn’t worried about Josh Beckett’s back. I’m confident that the doctors watching over him know of what they speak when they tell him it’s muscle-related and not a disk. The kid needs rest and if that means not taking a 17 hour plane ride, so be it. Isn’t the end of the world to have him not pitch the first game of the season. As the saying goes, better this happens early than late in the season, right?
* Today at 1:05pm (on MLB.tv), Tim Wakefield takes the mound. Thus far he’s had a good Spring Training, for which I’m very pleased. He’s one of those guys I want to see playing as long as he can with the Red Sox. The plan is to have Paps, Timlin and Manny Delcarmen follow him. Manny filled in nicely for Josh on Saturday. He’s another who has definitely impressed this pre-season.
* All quiet on the Kyle Snyder front. I’m eager to see him pitch again after his disappointing outing the other day. Maybe this time I can actually SEE it. Make that MLB.tv pay for itself. 🙂
* I bought the MLB.tv the other day and have been using it like radio since I’m usually working or, as was the case this weekend, just doing other things. It’s nice to have baseball on while I do things NOT related to it, but I really am eager for the games that matter to start.
* Having exhibition games against the Dodgers after regular season games against the A’s in Japan is going to totally mess with me. Why does MLB do these things?
* Didn’t read one “Holy cow is Mike Timlin OLD” article on his birthday. Nice of the writers to back off for once.
Okay, I’m aiming for some sleep. We’ll see how that works out.
