“Dude! It’s like NOON! You can’t expect me to be ready to pitch yet!”
So Bronson was scheduled to start today’s Reds/Mets game that will be starting at 1:05pm. But last night’s game got rained out so there is a day/night double-header in New York. Instead of starting at 1:05pm, Bronson will now be starting the 7:30pm game.
Dusty Baker seems happy to have moved Bronson’s start:
Arroyo likes to pitch the night games better than he does the day games,” said Baker, who will let the veteran stay in the team hotel during the day until he needs to go to Shea Stadium to get ready to pitch.
So, essentially (given his reputation), Baker gave Bronson the okay to party Friday night in New York and sleep in Saturday, then stagger into the park Saturday afternoon in the hopes that he won’t present his current suckitude yet again. 🙂
How great would it be if Bronson pitched a fabulous game tonight? Baker will look like a genius. Of course, if Bronson’s suckiness comes back, Baker will get destroyed by the fans – again – as will Bronson.
I don’t agree with ‘special treatment’. I think Bronson should with the team when he’s supposed to be. But it’ll be interesting to see if this works. I suppose, at the very least, it can’t hurt. Right?
Sigh.
I heart you Bronson, I sure do. But, dang, get the lead out brother.
