“I’m so amped up, it takes a lot to come down.”

beckettwoo.jpgAccording to Boston.com, it is currently 37 degrees.  Hopefully, that bodes well for the temperature at game time.

It’s been a few years since I went to opening day at Fenway.  I believe the last time was in 2003, wow, maybe even 2002.  Either way, I’m really excited for today.  Unlike the rest of the week, the weather should be great!  I’m going to meet friends, see, what I expect to be, a great game and just enjoy the hell out of the day! Bonus points on the day for my scoring my favorite spot in the park, left field…Manny land!

The subject quote goes for me, but was spoken by Jonathan Papelbon.  Gordon Edes has a truly interesting piece about him today where he talks about  how much he enjoys being the closer.  Just reading it helped get me ‘amped’ for today.  I also have the "Sox Mix" blasting on the iTunes this morning ("Joy to the World" playing right now!) and I’m putting together the ‘bag’ for the game.  I had planned on bringing a blanket this year, but might save that for tomorrow night.

"Kryptonite" just started up.  I’m hoping some home cooking will get out Captain out of this bad hitting place he’s in right now.  (As an aside, kudos to Papelbon for giving Varitek credit at the end of Sunday’s game!)

Josh Beckett always seems to get the short end of the publicity stick.  Whether he’s pitching against Pedro on his return to Fenway or starting on opening day, a day before Matsuzaka’s Fenway debut.  He seems to pitch better with a little attitude.  Let’s hope he has one today!

I’m off to prepare for the day.  (Regardless of my ‘name’, I’m not very ‘chickie’ at the park.  Well, except when I ‘woohoo!’ for Mike Lowell or swoon when Mike Timlin comes out of the bullpen!  I have to put together clothes that are warm, functional, with a little representing for the Old Towne Team!

Have a great day, folks.  Hopefully, I’ll be ‘back’ tonight with some pictures of the day!
