How much fun has Jacoby Ellsbury been to watch these last three days? Good to see he’s enjoying his time up here AND contributing!
Nice win last night. 10 hits (Ellsbury and Eric Hinske combined for 4 of those!) and 7, count them, SEVEN runs! It’s about freaking time. The pitching was great too. Kason Gabbard proved what I have been saying since his last start – that you can’t judge someone on one bad outing. Kid went 5.2 innings, giving up 3 hits and 3 runs (plus 4 walks and 4 strikeouts). And he had a no-hitter going into the fifth. Nice work Kason!
Mike Timlin pitched an inning of relief and gave up a double, but otherwise looked pretty good. Same for Kyle Snyder. Gave up a hit and, well, HIT a batter, but neither pitcher had runs scored on them. Javier Lopez came in for one batter and Okajima closed the door. (The pitchers didn’t pitch in this order, mind you.)
A good team win all around.

I’m part of the minority of folks who would rather our players DIDN’T go to the game and took the rest for three days – but it’s a big deal to these guys to be picked and, although I’m still a little miffed Youkilis got overlooked by his peers, I’m proud of the fact that the Sox have five, maybe six with Okajima, players going to the ASG.
But I’d be just as happy if they all said "thanks but no thanks". Although, I know they won’t.
Courtesy of the generosity of others, I’ll be at the game tonight to see Daisuke pitch against Scott Kazmir. It’s always ‘interesting’ when the Sox play the DRays, and since tonight is the first time they’ve met all season, I’m hoping to see some sparks.
I’m also hoping to see a win, boys, so don’t let me down!
