So the Sox get swept by the Tigers and I’m expecting to find article upon article, blogs and message boards, all full of doom and gloom. "The End is Near" stuff, you know? But nada. (Well, except for over at SoSH, but I don’t really count them anyway. If they didn’t have anything to wring their hands over, they’d have nothing to write about.)
Not that I’m complaining. This past weekend series doesn’t have me worried. The Saturday and Sunday games actually were encouraging to me. Kason Gabbard, Mike Timlin looked great…hell even Jeff Bailey (first major league hit, which also happened to be a home run!) and Julio Lugo contributed! There are a lot of positives to take away from the weekend. And the best one is, the Sox are still 10 games up in the division.
I think three days of rest is just what they need to get the taste of this sweep out of their mouths.
Home Run Derby tonight. Six years ago tonight, Miss Madison was brought into the world (and Luis Gonzalez won the Home Run Derby!). So today is a special day for the family – even the Sox getting swept and us not being able to watch "real" baseball until Thursday (well, for me, really, Friday) can’t put me in a bad mood!
